The Mercy Education office in conjunction with Catholic University of Eastern Africa CUEA has been involved in planning and participating in the annual Chastity Conference. In 2017 we held the 3rd Youth Chastity Conference steered by the Centre for Social Justice and Ethics-CUEA on the 11th February 2017, at the Pope Paul VI LRC Auditorium at CUEA. The theme and main topic was “Chastity and Self-Management” other topics covered included Youth: sexualized and radicalized, Internet and Chastity (the good causes) and Created for Love
OBJECTIVES OF THE CHASTITY CONFERENCE
The objective of the conference was to popularize chastity and to encourage young people to abstain from sexual activities and reflect on chastity as a virtue and value and how it contributes to self- management and societal progress.
ACTION PLAN FOR SCHOOLS SUPPORTED BY MERCY EDUCATION
- Formation of Chastity Clubs and strengthening those already existing in the schools
- Encourage abstinence as the only sure way to prevent and protect against teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and STIs
- Equip students with skills that will help them to be more Self-Aware and Assertive
- Encourage students to engage in Self-management e.g. Personal development, Emotional management, Resource management, time management etc.
