The 15th of June 2019 which was the Day of African child was marked by a big gathering of children calling for respect for their rights and the main theme was clean energy. Mercy Education Office in collaboration with the office of Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation Franciscans Africa, the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Global Hope Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Mary Immaculate Rehabilitation Centre, the Eucharistic Youth Movement, Kangemi and 350 Africa conducted a road show for awareness and advocacy for renewable energy. The event saw a big turn up of over 267 children and young people drawn from children’s home, organizations that support children, youth groups, secondary schools and universities.

The day was marked by marching for 8 km within Ngong town while carrying placards with messages urging all those they came across and the entire nation especially the President of Republic of Kenya and his team of leaders to stop coal burning in Lamu and Kitui, to keep fossil fuel underground and stand for renewable energy.
