Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School Shauri Moyo was established in 2008 by the corporation of Archdiocese of Nairobi and parents of Our Lady of Mercy Primary School Shauri Moyo. The initiative to start the girls’ secondary school was necessitated by the large number of standard eight girl-child graduates who were not absorbed into secondary schools after form one selection.

The school was registered in May 2008 as a girl’s only secondary school with an initial population of 32 students. Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School was the only girl’s school in Kamukunji Sub-county of Nairobi County. The schools enrollment has continued to grow over the years with a current population of over 700 students. The school has eventually become a full boarding girls’ secondary school with 3 streams for each class.
