Mercy Education Office worked with G-Thamini group which is one of our partner organizations working with primary school pupils in Mukuru. It is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) that provides education based life skills programs for young people aged 5- 18 years. The sessions were held in 1st and 2nd term during extracurricular activities time 3:10 – 4:30pm. Topics discussed; Human Growth and Development, Self Awareness, effects of Drugs and substance abuse, Personal Hygiene, Positive relationships and positive peer pressure. These lessons are to help mitigate the rising cases of drug abuse, early pregnancy, increase school dropouts, radicalization and recruitment to criminal gangs among primary school students. The program reached out to 2,200 pupils, class 5 – 8 in five Mercy Primary schools.
